Goal
This article explains how to create a quotation for a 16 + 4 page booklet.
To create and email quotations, your user role must have permission to create records and send emails. If clicking the buttons as explained in this guide doesn't work, contact your administrator.
Procedure
Step 1: Open the quotation list
In the Production module, click on 'Quotation' to open the quotation list.
Step 2: Create a new quotation
In the top right corner, click on 'Add new'.
Add the information and click on 'Save'.
Make sure the required information is filled in before saving.
Step 4: Add product template
Scroll down to the 'Products' section. Open the 'Product template' dropdown menu and select 'Book/Booklet'.
Step 5: Add requirements
1. Here you can add a name, quantity, format, pages, etc.
2. Click on the arrow icon directly left of the product template to see that the product template is made up of 'Cover' and 'Inset'.
The icon will not show up if the 'pages' field is blank.
You can add requirements in the parent (Booklet) and the two children (Cover & Inset).
Step 6: Open product details
Click on the pen and paper icon to dig into the product details.
Digging into the parent shows all operations and resource needs related to the product. Digging into either one of the children shows only the child's specific operations and resource needs.
Step 7: Customize operations
Add needed operations by searching and selecting operations in the dropdown menu.
When adding operations in the parent, the operations will apply to the product as a whole (the entire booklet in this case). When adding operations in one of the children, the operations will only apply to that specific child (only the cover for example).
The distinction is shown in the 'product' column.
You can delete unwanted operations by selecting the operation(s) and clicking on the 'trash can' icon.
Optionally click on the '+' icon to dig into and override system settings.
(Optionally) Step 8: Save as a product template
If you would like to reuse this template in the future; in the top right click on 'Convert' and then on 'Convert to product template'. The product is now saved as a template and can be selected when creating a new quotation.
Make sure to give it a custom name so it's easier to access.
(Pro-tip) Step 9: Make the template global
To use the template for every customer, empty the 'Company' field.
