Add work object (Offset press)

Goal

This article shows how to add a new work object for an offset press. You will complete three parts: Basic Information, Description, and Settings. Only two fields are mandatory: Name and Product Type. For best results, fill in as many fields as possible, especially in Settings.

Idea
Before you start, collect key data for your offset press (for example: standard production place, imposition types, allowed folding block types, and planning schedule settings). This will make setup faster and more accurate.

Procedure

Step 1: Open Settings and go to Work object

In the system menu, open Settings. Then choose Work object.


Step 2: Click Add new

On the Work object page, click Add new to create a new record.


Step 3: Complete Basic Information

Fill in the mandatory fields:

• Name: Enter a clear name (for example: “Offset Press – 5 color”).
• Product Type: Select the correct type for this work object.

Recommended fields to complete for better calculations and planning:

• Standard production place: Choose the usual machine or area where this press runs.
• Imposition types: Select the imposition options that this press supports.
• Allowed folding block types: Choose the folding block types that fit your production.
• Schedule (if you use planning): Select the schedule so the press can be planned.7

Step 4: Save once

Click the Save button to create the work object.


Warning
This is the only time you must click Save. After the record is created, any changes you make in this work object are saved automatically.

Step 5: Add Description

Open the Description section to add notes and local information. Use this area to record machine-specific details (for example, special instructions or maintenance reminders).


Step 6: Configure Settings

Open the Settings section and set the basic parameters for calculation. These values control how estimates and planning work for this offset press. Complete all relevant fields to match your real production process.


Idea
After you finish, run a test calculation that includes this work object and check that the result matches your expectations.
