How to Adjust Machine Speed for Different Materials (Exceptions)

How to Adjust Machine Speed for Different Materials (Exceptions)

Goal

To explain how to configure automatic speed adjustments for specific materials without changing the machine's standard global settings. This is useful when processing difficult materials (e.g., corrugated board) that require a slower production speed.

Concept: The Exception Logic The system uses an "Input vs. Output" logic to handle exceptions. You define a condition (Input), and if that condition is met, the system applies a specific change (Output).

  • Input (White Fields): These are your triggers. If an order matches the data entered here (e.g., a specific Material tag or Grammage), the exception starts.

  • Output (Blue Fields): These are the results. This is how the settings will change (e.g., limiting the Speed).

Procedure

Step 1: Navigate to the work object settings

In Settings - Work object click into the specific machine you wish to configure.

InfoThis article explains how to add a new work object.

Step 2: Define exception conditions

Define the Condition (White Fields): On the bottom of the page, locate the white columns on the left. Enter the criteria that should trigger the change.
  • Example: In the Material tag column, enter Corrugated.

Step 3: Define new settings

Define the New Setting (Blue Fields): Scroll to the blue columns on the right. Enter the new value you want the machine to use when the condition is met.

  • Example: In the Speed column, enter 90.

AlertResult: In this example, whenever the system detects a material tagged as "Corrugated," it will automatically override the standard speed and run at 90% of the standard speed defined in the main settings.
