This article helps you fix cases where no article need is shown or the article need is incorrect because material consumption is missing or wrong in a calculation. If material consumption is not calculated, material cost will be zero and there will be no basis for purchase when a calculation becomes an order.
Open the relevant calculation for your products, quotations, or orders. Check the material consumption tab or section. If it is empty, continue with the checks below.

After each fix below, save and recalculate to update material consumption and article needs.
Verify that a valid material is selected in the calculation (for example, the correct paper, board, or substrate). If material is missing, select the correct item and save.
Make sure the product or sheet format is filled in (width and height). If the format is missing, imposition and material use cannot be calculated.

Fill in the number of pages, leaves, or units used for the material calculation. If this value is missing, the system cannot calculate running material consumption.

Confirm that the correct work object is added to the calculation and linked to the material. If the work object is missing, add it and set the required inputs (format, pages, quantity).

Open the imposition settings. Check that the selected imposition fits the product format and that margins are realistic. If the product does not fit due to wrong imposition or margins, material use cannot be calculated.

If you use a custom sheet format, verify that it is entered and correct. The system can set a default, but you can override it. A missing or wrong custom format prevents correct material use.

Compare product dimensions to the material fiber direction. If they are opposite and this is acceptable, set the switch “Wrong fiber direction allowed” to Yes. If it is not acceptable, adjust product dimensions or select a material with the correct fiber direction.

Check that the product orientation matches the selected imposition. If the orientation is incorrect, adjust the product rotation or choose an imposition that fits the product format.
