Goal
This article explains how to sell finished goods from stock in a sales order. You will learn how to create a new orders record, add a product that sells from stock, add an order picking operation, add articles and quantities, review article needs, and create production orders when stock is missing.
Keep the sales order simple and clear. Use short product names and confirm quantities and dates with the customer before you create article needs or production orders.
Procedure
Step 1: Create a new order
Open the list of orders. Click New to create a sales order.
Step 2: Add order data
Enter the customer, delivery address, delivery date, and any reference. Add notes if needed.
Step 3: Save the order
Click Save to store the basic order. This makes the next actions available.
Step 4: Add a product for selling articles on stock
In the order lines, click Add product. Choose the product that you will sell from stock (finished goods). Enter the quantity and price, then save the line.
Use a product that is configured to be fulfilled from stock. This helps the system create article needs correctly.
Step 5: Add an operation for order picking
Open the Operations section of the order and click Add operation. Select the operation for order picking. Set any needed details (for example, warehouse or location) and save.
Step 6: Add articles and the quantity to pick from stock and sell
Inside the order picking operation, click Add article. Select each finished good to pick from stock and enter the quantity to sell. Save your changes.
Step 7: Review the article needs for the finished goods
After you add articles, the system creates article needs for the order. Open the article needs view to confirm that all items and quantities are correct. If stock is not enough, the article need will show that production is required.
Step 8: Create production orders for selected article needs
Select the article needs that require production. Click Order to create production orders. The system will automatically create the production orders based on the last production batch settings.
Creating production orders may reserve materials and capacity. Make sure quantities, dates, and product versions are correct before you continue.
